Allow me a moment of self pity---I feel like all my friends are gone. 90% of them are either married and live far away, or they are in serious relationships and spend ALL their time with that person. How does a shy person go about meeting new people? Seems like a relatively easy thing to do, but for a 26 year old out of college who is not looking to meet people in a bar, it's a little challenging. And it doesn't help when you walk into a new Sunday School class at church and no one speaks to you or looks at you. I feel like after we get out of high school and college, there is no moving forward as far as a social life goes. Part of it is my stupid complex about feeling like I'm out of place and not part of a group. It's hard to put myself "out there" and get out of my comfort zone. Stupid introvert.
On a brighter note, I finished New Moon and am ready for my next hit of Stephenie Meyer! I hope I can survive until August!

I've found a new love...

I was given an awesome book by my faithful friend Marisa, and now I am totally hooked. "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer is so wonderful. I went to DK last night and bought the second book and am counting down the hours until I'm able to start it. I literally could not put the book down. It was like a drug. In other news, I am very stressed out and ready to be done with our fourth grade play. The kids are doing a great job on it. But there are many other factors that take up so much time, like getting sound and lights figured out, writing out the piano music, making the program, making arrangements to transport children to the auditorium, etc. Since I've never been involved in drama, I have never directed a play before. What an exhausting experience. I have a newfound respect for directors. I don't think I'll have trouble getting sleep after this is over.

YAY!!!!

I am so excited because I get to see some of my very best friends in the whole world this weekend. These opportunities are so rare, and I consider it a huge blessing. After college we all separated and most of them got married. I am one of the few left living the single life. I've decided that if I don't get married, I'm going to acquire several dogs and cats (of course Zorro will always be my favorite) and live in harmony with sweet little animals. I guess no one will want to come over since the smell will be bad. Maybe that's not such a good plan after all. :-)

Woo hoo!

What a great end to my crazy week at school! The kids' programs went well, and my taxes are finally done too! I keep saying that next year I'm going to hire someone to do them for me and not wait until the last minute to do them. They are so stinking complicated. One lesson I have not learned well is to stop procrastinating. I think that in some twisted way I am motivated by immense pressure. Weird, huh? The 4th grade play is the last major project I have to overcome and then...time for summer! I'm going to New York with a couple of friends in May, so that will be fun, and I'm going to visit Marisa, Chris, Bella, and Boo sometime in May as well. So you guys get ready!

Full speed ahead!

Well it's that time of year where EVERYTHING is going on. I guess being extremely busy in the spring makes a person extra thankful for summer. My children are giving 2 programs next week, plus I am working on the 4th grade play to be done in May. After the play, I can pretty much relax. I am playing in the Lipscomb concert band later in April, as well as the Nashville Wind Ensemble (Marisa, we are playing a Grainger piece in there. Yuck!). Oh and there's the EMC reunion concert and a piano recital with my students. And I haven't done my taxes yet. Blah. No wonder I never post on this journal. :-) Life is too short to be this busy.

Monday again

Well it's blue Monday, but here's to some beautiful weather outside. It's 2 weeks before spring break, and 2 weeks until I go to FLORIDA!!! I haven't been on a real vacation in about 3 years, so this is really exciting.
Oh, and I dyed and cut my hair. No more blonde. But it's a nice change. A girl has to reinvent herself every now and then.

I've got the Monday blues..the it's still 4 weeks til Spring Break blues... I went home this weekend to Alabama, the land where the GRASS DOES GROW, contrary to popular belief. I sang in a wedding for some people in my home church. It was a fun but short trip. Basically a whole day was taken in driving. Then I came back and got to see my precious baby--my cat Zorro, in case you're wondering.

on this holy day of love...

Feb. 14th, 2007 | 07:34 am

Nice title huh? I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day! At the moment I am sitting in my classroom looking out the window at the beautiful snow, wishing that I was at home in my bed looking at the beautiful snow! Oh well, that's the way it goes. Maybe one of these days we'll have another snow day. In the meantime, if you aren't already gorging yourself on candy, try one of those Krispy Kreme valentine doughnuts. They are really yummy!

Well I guess I have given in to this live journal thing. :-) Marisa has been trying to get me to do this forever. I often sit at work bored to tears, so this will be a good creative outlet.
